About MCP.Bar
MCP.Bar is the universal package manager and open registry for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, enabling seamless discovery and one-command installation.
What is MCP.Bar?
MCP.Bar combines a powerful web platform with a CLI package manager for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. Our ecosystem consists of:
- Open Registry - A curated collection of 1500+ ready-to-use MCP servers
- Package Manager - The
mcpbar
CLI tool for one-command installation and management - Standardized Manifests - A unified approach to MCP server metadata using
mcp.json
- Developer Resources - Tools and documentation to help you create and share your own MCP servers
Our mission is to simplify the discovery, installation, and management of MCP servers while fostering a vibrant community of AI developers.
How did MCP.Bar get started?
The project emerged from a clear need in the AI development ecosystem. As Model Context Protocol gained adoption, we recognized the challenges in discovering and managing MCP servers across different environments.
What began as a proposal for a standardized manifest format (mcp.json
) quickly evolved into a full-fledged package manager and open registry. The goal was to create for MCP servers what npm did for JavaScript packages — a unified ecosystem that balances decentralization with standardization.
How to Contribute
We welcome contributions from the community in several ways:
- Submit MCP Servers - Add your own servers to our open registry
- Improve Documentation - Help clarify installation procedures and best practices
- Enhance the CLI - Contribute to the
mcpbar
package manager - Report Issues - Help us identify and fix bugs
- Spread the Word - Share MCP.Bar with fellow AI developers
The source code is available on GitHub. We're committed to maintaining an open, collaborative approach to development.
